Once a year, for one whole week, The Garrett County Agricultural Fair takes over Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County. With big music events, crowd favorite track events, and insanely delicious food, it’s a good thing we have more than one day to enjoy it!
If this is your first time visiting the Fair, prepare yourself for some incredible food. The locally manned booths that line the top portion of the fairgrounds serve up some of the most delicious grub you’ll have all year. Everything from classic carnival food like funnel cakes to apple dumplings. We highly recommend showing up with an empty stomach. Supporting the booths also means you’re supporting local clubs, sports teams, and organizations, too.
As for amusement rides, the set up this year looks great! There are plenty of rides specifically for children set up in one area, and then a great selection of bigger rides for the adults. Scattered throughout the rides are fun carnival games with those coveted, oversized stuffed animals.
And then, of course, there are so many exhibits to see! Stroll through the animal barns and see the county’s finest livestock, bunnies, horses, and more. The large exhibit barns are filled with local made crafts, crops, photography, artisans, local businesses, and exhibits! There are also antique tractors displayed in the Ag Heritage Hall.
The live events, held at various locations on the fairgrounds, are set to be bigger and better than ever! Top music performances include Season 11 winner of The Voice Sundance Head and rising country star Russell Dickerson. Fun Fact: Eric Church played at the Garrett County Fair before he was a superstar! There are events each night at the track, too. Varying from the demolition derby to tractor and truck pulls, there’s an event each night worth cheering on.
We can tell you all about it, but it’s best to go out and experience it for yourself. After all, you have a whole week to check it out! You can find the full schedule of events here. If you guys make it out, make sure to tag us in your photos! You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter or use #vacationdcl.
