Deep Creek Lodging Company and Railey Realty teamed up to participate in National Volunteer Week!
National Volunteer Week was first introduced by President Nixon and occurs every April. We knew we wanted to spend some time outdoors, giving love back to nature, so naturally we found ourselves helping out at one of our local state parks!
Head of maintenance at Deep Creek Lake State Park, Ken Dzaack, split us up into two groups to help re-landscape two bathroom units along the path connecting the state park and the boat launch. We were given the project breakdown and we went to work!
Both teams were tasked with the same project: remove the old top soil and weed fabric, lay down and staple the new fabric, and fill in the spaces with crushed limestone.
From company owners to real estate agents to office staff, everyone was more than happy to get down and dirty and get our project done. We couldn’t have asked for a better day, with temps hitting 70+ and beautiful blue skies. Deep Creek Lake in the background didn’t hurt, either.
After all the sweat and hard work, we treated our amazing group of volunteers to lunch at The Greene Turtle! From start to finish, it was a great experience and an awesome way to spend our Wednesday. Giving back to our community and volunteering our time is very important to us and we couldn’t ask for a better group of people to make up our Deep Creek Lodging & Railey Realty family!
We hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy beautiful Deep Creek Lake State Park this summer!
